Day 2

I probably won't post each day's events, but in the discovery phase its always something. The surf is flat again today and we are exploring this private community. We are relaxing on the private portion of Playa Langosta, this portion of the beach cannot be reached by the public. Although the surfer has to walk a mile with his board to the break. humm!

We arrived in Costa Rica!

When our plane landed at 8 o'clock at night it was very dark, and we were happy that we had someone there to greet us and drive us for an hour and a half on paved roads but very dark roads. Our driver stopped at a convenience store, and we were able to pick up water and a few other things and before we arrived to Hacienda Panilla, (pah-née-ya) HP. which is just a little south of Tamarindo.

This is a huge golf community and involves many many acres. Within this large gated golf area, are a few more gated developments, ours being one of them.
Not really working out for my surfer, darn. It requires a car for him to get to the surf spots. Guy lied! Plus they bugged out on helping us when we got here. We will overcome!
My city boy loves to pick up the phone and get crystal clear help...not happening.  UGGH!
So with rental car in hand (stick shift) we headed to Plya Negra on day one. (Surf flat) Turned on the GPS and typed in "Palya Negra" and off we bounced down a dirt road with no name. (I think that's a song?) Thank god for satalites and GPS. All dirt roads, with no street names, yikes! Come up on a vague "y" in the road, and if you didn't have help, you would use dice!
Playa Negra is off the "property"  HP. We wanted to meet Molly, who runs Costa Rica Equestrian Vacations. We got there...and I will be there again on Monday Morning 8:00am Yeh! We started back to the Condo and typed in HP... On the GPS, moments later it died, and the cigarette lighter in the car is broken..OK!
We are already better at deciding which are the smaller dirt roads from the bigger dirt roads. Ha! Less than 8 hours of learning curve under our belt.
Next adventure for the day was to find a grocery store (Auto Mercado) again off Property. So we exit the exterior gate, turn left at the "y" in the road and caught the sign for Tamarindo. 179,000.00 (Colones ($333.00 U.S.) later we have chicken (cooked),
Thinly sliced turkey, eggs, vodka, mixers (we're gonna need that!) salad stuff all looking good! Fruit etc. basically everything we wanted. Got back to the condo exhausted! Put the groceries away and went out to eat at one of the 4 restaurants at the JW Marriott. Let me tell you that's a bonus to be near that hotel, cause we share the pool area with the other gated community's and they have 4 nice restaurants. Asian fusion, Steak house, Italian Grill on the beach, ant the more casual menu restaurant downstairs from the Lobby. We tried the Asian one! Yum! Weather is georgous 85 in the day but the breeze keeps it nice! and I'm not feeling humidity.
Below is the shared area of JW Marriott.
